Financial Independence Through Junk

Random Issues #1 - The American Magazine

Picking up on an idea I had back when I put out a newsletter about magazine back issues, here I take a look through a somewhat random issue of The American Magazine (Feb. 1935).

You know, SD, I do a lot with movie collectibles, so I tried to work Sheet Music into my stock at one time, but I can't get a great markup and the main drawback for me is, believe it or not, they're just a little too big to fit comfortably into my shipping routine. I've thought several times about bringing them back though, at least those dealing explicitly with Silent Film, and that's something that could happen if the right deal presents itself.

Oh wow, guys, I'm commenting away on this thinking it was the Harper's video I posted this morning and I just now realized it's an earlier one! If my replies don't make sense in some regards that why. Thanks again, Cliff

Thanks, SD, I just posted that Harper's video around 6 am, so you weren't missing it for long! Hey, my teeth twist and turn every which way, don't let that stop you :) Honestly, and I hope this doesn't sound too mercenary, but I like what I can make money on--that said, if I don't personally like something I don't stress it as much (notice I pass Howard Pyle by with a quick mention, but delve much deeper into Thomas Nast). Personal favorites, probably early 20th century headed by Rockwell and Leyendecker, really fantastic color covers on the old Posts. I really like George Hughes when I come across him as well, though he's not a big seller. Benda I don't see too much, but that's good stuff too! 19th century I like Nast, Remington and had a lot of TS Sullivant in some of the older Life Magazines that I really liked personally. Thanks for watching, Cliff

Thanks, Walt, I thought this one started off a little dodgy because I so many notes around me to remember the dates, etc., but, yeah, once I start showing off the mags I definitely get a little more into my own skin.

Wow didn't know this was here.
Great information Cliff, thanks for the effort, if I din't have such bad teeth I'd give Video a shot! LOL
What do you know of the Earlier Illustrators? What Era's do you favor?

Nice Job!

Thanks, Walt, I think you're right, definitely feel more comfortable and they are becoming quicker for me to both record and edit. Hope to do another this weekend.

Thanks for checking it out, Cliff
