Financial Independence Through Junk

Wow, I'm impressed and grateful that there's activity here even when I'm not able to be at the site as was the case the past few days.

We had a pretty severe ice storm here in MA and I'm just catching up on back work, my blogs etc. So it really is comforting t to know that the A.W.N. won't whither if I'm away for a couple of days. Thanks for that.

I want to let people know that I"m taking the groups section off of the page soon. Here's why: It seems that everyone who uses the site, is more interested in current discussions and events rather than participating in group activity.

There is only so much room above the fold, that I feel we can best use the space for other things which get more activity than the groups section has.

I will leave it up for a couple of days in case anyone wants to grab any information from it, but then it will come down.

Thanks

HELLO,
I am new to your site. I would like an idea of what you think an item I have might be worth. I have the very first football ever used in the extinct XFL football league. It is signed by the players and the coach. I also have a vcr tape that shows the game and the football used. It was thrown into the croud by the opposing teams player after they scored the first touchdown in the XFL.

Hey Orlando,

In my opinion, this would be a real wild card, as it depends on the demand for the product, as do all collectibles. Because the XFL went out so fast, it didn't have an opportunity to create much of a fan base. For that reason, I would say if any of the players which signed the ball made it in the NFL, or went on to any other fame, then you may have something.

IF not, you likely have a neat novelty worth about $25-$50

Good luck,
AW

Hi, I just signed up for your sight and I have a question about some antique newspapers that my husband found. I have The New York Times and The Baltimore Sun. They range from 1925 to 1938. Some examples of whats in these papers are about the drout and President Calvin Coolidge inauguration. There are also many submarine casualities and pre WWII articles and pictures. I think there must be 50 to 60 newspapers in this box. Are they worth anything?

Depending on the content of each and specific topics, they could very well be, although most are common. To get a real good sense of what you have, I suggest you listen to this episode of the AuctionWally Show on which I interview one of the top experts on old newspapers. Click here to find that episode, it's free to listen.
